PT Parkland World Indonesia, which consists of three production facilities in Serang (PT Parkland World Indonesia Serang), Jepara (PT Parkland World Indonesia Jepara), and Rembang (PT Parkland World Indonesia Rembang), has committed to reducing carbon emissions through the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) since October 28, 2021. On August 23, 2023, the emission reduction targets submitted by the company were approved by SBTi, providing a strong foundation for future emission reduction efforts. Since then, PT Parkland World Indonesia has implemented various concrete measures, including energy efficiency improvements at production facilities, the use of renewable energy sources such as solar power, process optimization, and waste management to reduce its carbon footprint. As a result, the company has achieved a significant reduction in carbon emissions per production unit. This commitment not only focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions but also on long-term sustainability, supporting environmentally friendly business growth and responding to the global challenge of climate change.
The aim of the Parkland Group climate strategy is to reduce our GHG emissions in line with a 1.5°C pathway – the most ambitious goal established by the Paris Agreement – and contribute to a net-zero future. Accordingly, with the approval from the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi), we have refined our near- and long-term GHG emission reduction targets as follows:
We aim to achieve net-zero GHG emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3) for the entire value chain by 2050.
We aim to reduce absolute GHG emissions across the supply chain (Scope 1&2) by 42% by 2030 for near term target, measured against a baseline of 2021. PT. Parkland World Indonesia also commits to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions 25% from purchased goods and services and employee commuting within the same timeframe.
We aim to reduce absolute GHG emissions across our own operations (Scope 1 and 2) by 90% by 2050 for long term, measured against a baseline of 2021. PT. Parkland World Indonesia also commits to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions 90% within the same timeframe.
TARGET BOUNDARY
PT. Parkland World Indonesia has submitted one GHG inventory for review by SBTi's Target Validation Team. In the calendar year of 2021 the company has reported total of 226,882 GHG emissions (tCO2e) in the full minimum boundary (scopes 1, 2 and 3). PT. Parkland World Indonesia has reported no emissions outside of minimum boundary. PT. Parkland World Indonesia has reported no emissions from thecombustion, processing and distribution phase of bioenergy and the land use emissions and removals, associated with bioenergy feedstocks. In 2024 there will be no changes to the target and baseline data in the emission calculation so there will be no revalidation by the SBTi target validation team.
DATA SOURCE AND CALCULATION METHODOLOGIES FOR EMISSION MAPPING
PT Parkland World Indonesia has calculated its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions using the GHG Protocol guidelines as part of its commitment to setting science-based emission reduction targets through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The calculation covers the full minimum boundary, including Scopes 1, 2, and 3, to ensure accuracy and transparency in the company’s emissions reporting.
